1. Quick Take
Chiang Mai is located in the northern of Thailand and one of the most popular destination city in Winter (October to February). There are so many travel spots in Chiang Mai. But if you plan to travel in downtown, Le Meridien Chiang Mai would be a great choice.
2. Location
Le Meridien Chiang Mai is just 15 minutes from Chiang Mai International Airport. Location is damn good as it is next Chiang Mai Night Bazaar and just 10 minutes walk to Tha Phae Gate. On the weekend, there is walking street at Tha Phae Gate.
3. Room
This time I stayed in 1 Bedroom Executive Suite for 2 nights. It is an upgrade perks from Titanium member (please note that upgrade is depended on availability). Le Meridien Chiang Mai, there are 6 room types
- Deluxe
- Urban
- Espace (Corner Room)
- 1 Bedroom Executive Suite
- Diplomatic Suite
- Royal Suite 2 Bedroom
1 Bedroom Executive Suite is the highest category for an upgrade from Deluxe or Urban room. If you expect for an upgrade to Diplomatic Suite, you may need to book at least 1 Bedroom Executive Suite. But it is not guarantee upgrade at all.
1 Bedroom Executive size is 76 sqm, come with 1 living room, 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom with large jacuzzi with view.
In living room, there are 1 sofa (up to 3 adults for watching TV), table and desk.
TV is large enough for enjoying movie, sport or news.
At least 6 bottle of waters is provided beside with kettle and ice bucket. If water is not enough, you can easily request by call or drop a note to housekeeper before turn down in the evening.
Bedroom comes with 6-inches bed and 4 large pillows which is very soft and comfortable.
There is a sofa bed that you can enjoy view during day and night.
Highlight of this room is a large jacuzzi with view in the bathroom.
Bath amenities are Malin+Goetz, amenities brand for global Le Meridien Hotel.
Reverse angle for bedroom. There is a sliding-door separate between bathroom and bedroom.
4. Marriott Bonvoy Benefit
Marriott Bonvoy Member is well recognized at check-in. As a Titanium Member, I got an upgrade to Executive Suite even it is a long weekend in Thailand for 2 nights. Platinum member and above get full breakfast and lounge access. There is no complimentary laundry here. But hotel has 20-30 percent laundry discount for member.
Birthday Celebration
There is little surprise from hotel for a birthday cake with welcome fruit and snack (cute rabbit is not included haha). It may look simple but I think it is a nice touch here.
Breakfast
Full breakfast is included in benefits of Titanium member. If compare with Le Meridien Chiang Rai, I could say that Le Meridien Chiang Rai is a bit better.
The first station is my favorite, northern food of Thailand. Stay here for 2 days, food is different and delicious. Do not miss this one!!
Here is a hot station where you can order egg menu, sausage and some western style breakfast.
There are various types of bakery. As it is not my type, I couldn't mention about the taste.
Waffle and pancake station, look interesting for kids.
Salad station, not much but good enough to take some in the morning.
Some more hot food here, stir fried vegetable, Thai and Chinese food.
Yoghurt, milk and fruit.
Many kind of local fruits here.
5. Facilities
Hotel lobby is located on ground floor and it looks good. There are about 20 seats at lobby. Check-in desk is also on the ground floor.
There are 2 main restaurants here which are Favola for Italian lover and Latest Recipe for an international recipes. Latest Recipe also a restaurant for breakfast. Executive lounge still closed during my visit.
Pool size is fit for 2-3 person at the same time.
There is kid pool on the left hand side, look safe.
Pool area is great for city hotel like Le Meridien Chiang Mai. There is no temperature control for pool. It could be too cold if you visit in winter (December - January).
6. Bottom Line
I would say that it is great 2 nights stay at Le Meridien Chiang Mai. This is the only 1 Marriott hotel in Chiang Mai and I would recommended here before booking any other local hotel.
Service - Check-in is quick and effective.
Room - Cleanliness is at top and I totally love executive suite room. Mountain from living and bedroom is damn good. Large Jacuzzi is also something couldn't forgot to mention.
Breakfast - Complimentary full breakfast for Titanium member. There are so many selections of food here and I love their norther food.
