The World's 50 Best Restaurants lists and awards are organized and complied by
William Reed Business Media, UK media company. The first announcement was held
in 2002 and the first place has been dominated by elBulli. The World's 50 Best
Restaurants list provides an annual snapshop of the opinion and experience of
over 1,080 international restaurant industry experts. Here is how the voting
system works.
The list is created from the voted of The World's 50 Best Restaurants Academy,
comprising restaurant industry experts, with 50/50 gender balance. Within the
100% of experts, 34% are chef and restaurateurs. 33% are food writers and the
last 33% are well-travelled gourmets. It is split into 27 separate regions
around the world; each region has its own voting panel of 40 members including
a chairperson to head it up. At least 25% of the panellists from each region
change each year.
The panel in each region is made up of food writers and critics, chefs,
restaurateurs and well-travelled gourmets, each of whom has 10 votes. Some
regions span more than one country. The decision as to how the world is
divided up is left to the organiser and regional chairs and is debated and
reassessed annually. The divisions are designed to represent the global
restaurant scene at the current time as fairly as possible.

This year (2022), The announcement of World's 50 Best Restaurants was held in
Old Billingsgate, an event avenue in London. The new rule applied for this
year is winner of previous year can no longer appear on the list. Noma, 1st
rank of The World's 50 Best Restaurants, will move to compete in the category
The Best of The Best.
Geranium in Denmark is now the World's Best Restaurant, move up from runner
from previos year. Noma and Geranium also acquired three Michelin Star this
year, the only 2 three-Michelin Star restaurants in Denmark.
